Mixing Routine

I’m pretty fixed in my routine – variations occur very infrequently. I like it that way because it keeps me more stable; more sane. Today was different. Normally the morning routine goes something like the following:

4:00am Alarm
4:20am Out of Bed
4:30am In the Zendo doing Yoga
4:50am In the Zendo meditating
5:30am Shower
5:50am Breakfast (650 calorie smoothie)
6:10am Ojai Coffee Roasting Company
6:30am Van Pool to work
7:30am Work

What happened today? Recurring snooze. Sleepiness.  I didn’t get to bed any later than normal, but my body simply wanted to do something different and I decided to go with the flow. After sleeping a little later, I got up and took a shower, sat outside under the stars for a while, took a walk, snapped a picture, picked up the van, headed to the coffee shop, and now blogging!

By allowing this variation, I get to practice mindfulness to observe the feelings in the feelings, the body in the body, and the mind in the mind. Reflecting. Exploring.

Are you routine? Do you ever mix things up a bit? What does it feel like? Is it important to explore these variations?

The monks and nuns of BN are evicted from the temple and now are
staying temporarily in chua Phuoc Hue, the big temple of central Bao
Loc, right on the main highway Saigon-Dalat with the big statue and
locates next to the church. This is the temple that our delegation
visited with Thich Nhat Hanh on the trip 2007. Please get as many foreign faces
as possible to be there URGENTLY to WITNESS of what is happening. The
policeman are trying to finish the issue as quickly as they can to
avoid the media and public attention so they deny all legal
sponsorship of the abbot (ven. Thich Thai Thuan). They are making
pressure to him to ask the monastics leave IMMEDIATELY, not allow them
to spend even overnight but we know that is the safest place for our
brothers and sisters rightnow because it is not as far as Dambri and
they cannot control the road. So please tell any friend who is in VN
now come to Bao Loc RIGHT AWAY. Thank you so much.

Thanh Buoi bus leaves SG for Dalat once every hour. Their depot is in Le
Hong Phong St, District 5.

My Online Persona

Thanks to Isaac Pigott's post on this, I decided to check it out.

What I found most fascinating was watching the tool develop the profile by searching the web based simply on entering my first and last name. This process may not work very well for someone with a common name, but for me it seemed to work pretty well.

The second surprising element is the sports piece; what's that all about?
